Historical Society had notable year
[…] Following the business of the meeting, members were given a fascinating talk by Mr. Henry Owen-John, the assistant director of the Glamorgan/Gwent Archaeological Trust. The subject of his lecture, which was illustrated by numerous slides, was the work of the Trust and some of their recent archaeological ‘digs’ in Glamorgan, notably the excavations at Llandough near Cardiff, where the substantial remains of a Roman Villa and part of a later medieval house were discovered.
In his vote of thanks, Mr. Leslie Evans expressed his and the Society’s admiration of the tireless efforts and valuable work of the Glamorgan/Gwent Trust in recording threatened sites and their rescue archaeology in the face of modern developments.
